Unleashed is how you roll at Turkey Creek Trail!

Welcome Y'all! Unleashed is how we roll here. Ha! That's how I would tweet this hiking experience at Emma Long Metropolitan Park.

Just half an hour from downtown Austin, Emma Long Metropolitan Park is a easy hike for early risers or late afternoon during week days. The park is 7 days a week from 7am - 10pm. Previously called a City Park, it was later named after Emma Long, first woman to serve as Mayor Pro Tem in Austin.

Turkey Creek Trail is about 3miles round-trip and your pets can be unleashed. Be prepared to clean up after them and cross a few creeks! Pretty flat and easy hike with smoothing sounds of the creek flowing and chirping sounds of Golden-Cheeked Warbler aka Golden Finch of Texas. Warblers nest here and hikers are asked to not go beyond the trails to explore.

Did you know that these Golden-Cheeked Warblers are the only birds whose breeding range is limited to Texas? I think this is super cool and another pride to Texans.

I have been here time and again and this is a must-visit trails in Austin. Your fur baby is going to love it and if you do not own one, you sure will meet several friendly doggies here. Found this content useful? Leave me a note - would love to hear about your visit to the State Park.

Cheers,

JBawse :)
