Welcome Y'all!
You may have read my previous post on the overnight stay at Cooper Lake State Park . There were restrictions about places like museums or aquariums that we could visit due to covid-19 and that's how I ended up finding Lonesome Dove's Drive-thru Safari. In the heart of Jefferson, Texas this place for sure had some surprise elements hidden in there.
Drive-thru
--------------------------------
There were plenty of deer and bucks that we could feed (you buy the feed in addition to the entry tickets). What truly surprised me was spotting a Camel and a Kangaroo which is not pretty commonly seen in Central Texas. The drive-thru had different paths you could take and all were marked which made it seamless to navigate. The entry fee includes unlimited entries for the day so you could keep going back as many times as you would like to. We drove through tall pine trees and the area was pretty shady.
Petting Zoo
______________
The petting zoo had another Camel, ducks, Kangoroo and goats. Pretty small but we just had enough time to stop by.
Holiday Train Ride / Lonesome Dove Express
_______________
This was the second best part that A enjoyed the most as the path was decorated for holidays and there was plenty of space to socially distance from other families. It was pretty evident that a lot of thought went into these decorations and was a lovely ride.
